Kin Technology Limited Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 27, 2025

Thank you for your interest in Kin Technology Limited ("Kin", "we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in connection with your use of our various hardware, firmware, software, websites, applications, and services, including our smart pill dispenser (Kindo) and mobile application (collectively, the "Kin Technology Products and Services").

We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how we handle your personal information.

This Policy covers:

  • The types of information we collect from you.
  • How we use this information.
  • How we share or disclose this information.
  • Your rights and choices regarding your information.
  • The steps we take to protect your information.
  • Data retention practices.
  • International data transfers.
  • How you can contact us.

1. Information We Collect

We collect various types of information to provide and improve the Kin Technology Products and Services. Some of this data may be considered personal information or personal data, meaning information that can identify or be reasonably linked to an individual.

1.1. Information You Provide Directly to Us:

  • Account Information: When you create a KIN account, we collect your full name, email address (or phone number based on country), and password or authentication credentials. You may also choose to provide a profile photo, birthday, and other optional professional or personal details for your profile page. This information helps us identify you, provide personalized experiences, and secure your account.
  • Contact Information: When you make a purchase, contact customer support, or sign up for updates, you may provide your name, email address, shipping and billing address, and phone number(s). This enables us to fulfill orders, respond to inquiries, and deliver support services.
  • Payment Information: For purchases, you provide payment details such as credit/debit card information and billing address. Please note: Payments are processed via secure third-party payment processors. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.
  • Communications: When you contact us (e.g., via email, chat, phone), we collect information about your communication, including your contact details, the time, topic, and content of your messages.
  • Feedback and Reviews: If you provide feedback, reviews, or ratings for our products or services, we collect this information to improve our offerings and understand customer satisfaction.
  • Medication and Schedule Data: To enable the Kindo smart pill dispenser to function effectively, we collect medication names or types, dosage information, dispensing schedules, and frequency. This is sensitive health-related data, stored securely, and used solely to ensure accurate and timely medication dispensing.
  • Photos and Audio Recordings:
    • From Kindo Device: The Kindo device collects photos of medication within its dispense area (the cup that picks up dispensed meds). The camera's placement strictly limits its view, capturing only the dispense area and cannot see faces or the surrounding environment. These images are used for record-keeping and future recognition functions (e.g., for pill verification).
    • From Mobile App: Our mobile application uses your device's camera to take pictures of prescriptions or canister IDs for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) processing. During this process, the image capture may incidentally include parts of your environment or face.
    • Necessity & Storage: The collection of these photos and recordings is necessary for the functionality of the features we offer and is not optional for the use of these features. This data is stored both locally on the Kindo device/mobile app and online on our servers.

1.2. Information We Collect Automatically:

  • Device-Related Information: When you activate or use Kindo, we collect device model, serial number, firmware version, status logs, and error reports. This helps us monitor device performance, provide customer support, and ensure accurate medication dispensing.
  • Technical Information: When you visit our website or use our mobile applications, we collect data such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and usage statistics. This helps us optimize performance and security.
  • Location Information: We may collect location data from your mobile device to improve app functionality, such as setting time-based medication reminders, syncing time zones, or offering localized customer support. This data is only collected with your explicit permission and can be disabled in your device settings.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies on Kin websites and app to collect information, including personal data, from you. These small files enable certain features, functionality, and more relevant marketing. We do not use cookies to collect or store sensitive health information; this data is handled via secure, encrypted methods. Please see our separate Cookie Policy for more details.

This type of information does not include any personally identifiable data and helps us improve services and develop health-focused innovations.
